L2 : Empuraan and its makers are in deep trouble.
According to the recent reports, the producers are now releasing an edited version of the movie from Monday onwards. Apparently, the movie has underwent 17 major cuts.
In case you are not aware, the movie L2 : Empuraan has been under controversy ever since it hit the theatres. The movie focused a bit more on the character of Zayed Masood [Stephen Nedumpally’s aide], which was played by

Murali Gopy

, who had written the script of the original movie, also wrote the script for this movie.
However, the way the makers took digs at the 2002 Gujarat genocide sparked massive outrage. The criticism was not just limited to the misrepresentation of facts, but also the shoddy screenplay, in stark contrast to the crisp thriller that released in 2019 movie. Made on a budget of 30 crores, the movie had turned out to be a major commercial success, earning more than 125 crores worldwide.
Following massive criticism against the movie, Mohanlal, who played the role of the political bigwig Stephen Nedumpally, aka Khureshi Abraam, came out to clarify his position. He also apologized to the public for any wrong representation.
