Kanya Bharathi or popularly known as Kanya is a popular television actress in the Tamil and Malayalam Television Serial industry. She was born and brought up in Kerala but got settled in Chennai for the past 20 years. She came to the tinsel town serial industry in her early teen. A drama-based serial in itself, it is based on the family of Govinda and Subadra. They have 3 sons and a daughter called Ponnu. Ponnu is lost during a Durgastami festival, and the sequence of events that evolves after that are the main themes of the serial. Kanya essays the role of Govinda’s Mother. Her acting is pretty much appreciated. Her character in this serial has a multi-faced character that scintillates between positive and negative mood swings.

Her other notable performance is in the serial “Deivam Thantha Veedu', a Tamil comedy serial aired on STAR VIJAY. This is the remake of the famous Hindi soap opera “Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.” Kanya Bharathi plays the role of a supporting actress in the serial. She was also much praised for her performance in Chellamay. It is one of the most exquisite and most-watched teleserials aired on SUN TV. It is directed by Sulaiman K Babu and written by Ponkumaran. Kanya Bharathi played a supporting role but got much more attention for the extreme and passionate acting.
