Director A.M. Fazil has various roles to his credit, including filmmaker, screenwriter and producer. Though his father dreamt of his son to become a doctor, Fazil was mainly interested in extracurricular activities during schooling. He did a post-graduation in Economics.

Fazil not only concentrated on direction, but also in production. Chandralekha, Ramjirao Speaking etc., are his successful films as a producer. He has shown his talent in the Tamil film industry by winning the Best Director Award for Poove Poochoodava. Ironically Faazil could not wave his magic wand during the early 2000s and his films stumbled at the box office. All the same it is heartening to note that, his son Fahadh Faazil is a renowned star in the Malayalam film industry now.


Priyadarshan Soman Nair is a famous Director, Producer and screen writer. He is awarded the Padma Shri Award by the government in 2012. He has worked for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema in his career since 1984. Although he began his career from Malayalam movies, he is recognized for his comedy films in Bollywood. He is an extremely versatile director and has films in almost every genre. Priyadarshan was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He graduated from University College in his home town with a M.A in Philosophy. He was a book worm in his teenage days, and soon he started writing scripts and acts for Akashvani. His first big chance came as an assistant director when his friend Mohanlal got into movies. In 1984, Priyadarshan released his first film as a director, which became an instant hit. Throughout his career, he did numerous movies in different languages. His Tamil film “Kanchivaram” won the National Award for Best Feature Film and was premiered in Toronto Film Festival. He has adopted several movies and remade them in Hindi films. Most of them are an adoption of his own work in other languages. He has directed movies such as “DoliSaja Ke Rakhna”, “KabhinaKabhi” and “Saat Rang keSapne”, which were all huge hits. But his most renowned hit came in 1999. Adopted from the Malayalam flick “Ramjirao Speaking”, “Hera Pheri” was a monstrous hit at the box office. Speaking on his success on the film, Priyadarshan’s style is not of the typical Hindi flicks. His comedy is more close to reality, and looks less of unnatural and impossible events. He went on too direct more Hindi comedy movies such as “Hulchul” in 2004, “Garam Masala” in 2005, “BhoolBhulaiyaa” in 2008 amongst many more which were hit movies. In 2008, he was awarded Special Honor Jury Award for his work for Indian Cinema. In 2012, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to arts. His films have been nominated and awarded several times. He was married to Lissy, a film actress who has worked with in 16 of his own films. They have a daughter and a son studying abroad. Unfortunately, they recently got divorced in 2014. Although Priyadarshan does not seem happy about the divorce, it hasn’t kept him from making new movies. Currently he is working on two projects, “Pirate” featuring Deepika Padukone and “Nishaad” Featuring Akshay Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Ajay Devgan.
