Meenal is an actress known for roles in the South Indian film industry, mainly in Tamil movies. She was born in the city of Madurai, formerly known as Madura in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu. She was born into a family of business workers. In her family, her father was the one with the business inclination that had also spread to Meenal when she was a young girl. Her father had his factory in the city of Coimbatore which dealt with garment export. Being exposed to such work had inspired Meenal and had made her aspire to be an entrepreneur herself one day. This aspiration led her to pursue Business Studies while completing her education.

She has been a good actor from a young age and didn’t take it very seriously even though most of her friends had encouraged her to take it up seriously. She got her big break as a result of pure coincidence when she went to a visit in Kodambakkam, the center of the Tamil cinema industry, and got noticed by director Cheran. She got cast in his upcoming film, ‘Thavamai Thavamirundhu’ in the year 2005 which also won a National Award. Soon after her debut into the film industry, she found herself with a handful of offers from various directors. She was offered the role of an imperative character in Ace filmmaker P. Bharathiraja’s 'Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum' named Narthanya, a sex worker. The film was released in the year 2013 and was well received by the viewers and critics alike. She made her appearance alongside other stars like Karthika Nair who played the role of ‘Annakodi’ and Lakshman Narayan who played the role of ‘Kodiveeran’ and Manoj Bharathiraja who played the role of ‘Sadanga’.

She has appeared in many films since her debut and for an actress from a family with no acting experience, she is one of the best actresses in the Tamil cinema industry.

Pinky Sarkar, better known by the name Meenakshi, is an Indian film actress who performed in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies. She became popular after her performance in her first Tamil movie i.e. Karuppusamykuththagaithaarar as in Raasathi. Born and brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal, she started her career in the film industry from the year 2006. She first appeared in two Telugu movie ventures out of which one is Hanumanthu, a devotional film called Srisatyanarayanswamy. The later one she was featured as Goddess Laxmi where a critic said she failed to emote well. About her Tamil debut, she was featured in Karuppusamykuththagaithaarar where she played the role of Raasathi, who was a first-year student. After this movie, she was better known for her acts like the girl next door and many other performances have improved her acting skills and made her popular every day. Not like other actors, she took a break from her occupation to complete her education and then went back to Chennai to continue with her modeling and acting skills in the film industry. In the year 2009, she acted in her second Tamil movie TN 07 AL 4777 which was a remake of Hindi movie Taxi no. 9211. Pooja was the name of her character who was a rich extrovert and party-loving cosmopolitan girl and went into fashion makeover later. The Same year she was starred in two more Tamil movies i.e. Perumal and Rajadhi Raja. After 2009, she stopped her acting career to complete her education and went ahead to complete her MBA degree. Later in 2014, she returned to the film industry and took the lead role in Villangam and supporting role in Soodhadi.

She made her debut into Bollywood in the year 2014, in ‘Gang of Ghosts’ comedy film based on paranormal activity done by a group of ghosts. The film was made by Satish Kaushik and was remade from ‘Bhooter Bhabishyat’ a Bengali movie. She was cast as ‘Tina Chopra’ a chirpy and bubbly little ghost in the gang. Her role was well received by the audience and the critics as well. She was cast alongside stars such as Sharman Joshi who played the role of ‘Raju Writer’ and Mahi Gill who played the role of ‘Manoranjana Kumari’.
