Kavitha Bharathy is an Indian film actor and writer who works predominately in the Tamil movie industry. He is best known for his works in movies such as Chitthi (2003), Priyamanaval (2015), and Aruvi (2016). Bharathy was born in Chennimalai, in Erode district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. He currently lives in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Kavitha Bharathy fell in love with Malayalam television actress Sri Kanya. Her spouse's mother was unsupportive of their love marriage. To convince his mother-in-law, Kavitha Bharathy learned Malayalam.
They got married on 15 September 2002 and have a daughter. He always wanted the surrounding people to notice his work. During his school days, he used to short. It created an inferiority complex inside him. He was once the class representative in his school days. In one case, his Tamil teacher helped him to win a poem competition, by allowing Bharathy to copy his verse. Bharathy has a younger sister. He is from a farmer's family. Although coming from an agricultural background, he did not do much to help his family during the harvest season.
Instead, he used to write plays and dramas for local shows. Kavitha Bharathy's father stood like enormous support for his career in film production. Though being a delightful father, he had drink problems. To sustain the family, Bharathy's mother used to work in agricultural fields on a daily wage. Bharathy moved to Chennai to pursue a full-time career in the film industry. The initial days of his career were unpleasant. He did not possess the money to send back to his family.
He would skip a visit to his hometown during auspicious occasions like Diwali and Pongal. Kavitha Bharathy worked as associate director for the television series and gradually wrote a script for weekly episodes. Kavitha Bharathy has directed several small screen serials. One of his notable television works is Chitthi, which was popular serial during the early 2000s.
He made his film debut with the movie Kallappadam in 2015. In 2014, he was the chairperson of the Tamil Small Screen Actors Association. Kavitha Bharathy gathered the attention of the audience with his performance in the movie Aruvi 2017. His last film to hit the theatres was Raatchasi in the year 2019. Kavitha Bharathy believes in Communism. He follows the works of B. R. Ambedkar and Bharathithasan. He is part of Music composer, G. V. Prakash Kumar's next feature film.
