C.R.Vijayakumari is an actress with an Indian background. Her first film was Naalvar in the year 1953. The movie,directed by V.Krishnan had a cast comprising of A.P. Nagarajan, N.N.Kannappan, Muthulakshmi, and KumariThangam. The overview of the drama was about a family having four children. The musical score and sound tracks were composed by KV Mahadevan. The film turned out to be a hugebox office hit and the hero Nagarajan started being popularly known as Naalvar Nagarajan. Her next film was Petra Maganai Vitra Annai in the year 1958, where she played the role of Jeeva.

The film was directed by V Ramanathan and the production was Modern Theaters. This film had the famous song Thendral Urangiya PothumThingal Urangiya Pothum which was sung by A.M Raja and P Susheela. This song received immense accolades at the box office and love from the audience,along with the song Kalamennum Kaataru, which was made into a stage play and performed throughout the year. During the same year, she acted in two more films - Padhi Bhakti and Vanjikottai Valiban, where she portrayed the role of Gowri. In the year 1959, she appeared in Kalyana Parisu as Geetha.

This movie turned out to be a commercial and critical success, which caused it to be remade in Telugu with the name Peli Kanaku, in the year 1960. This movie had created a profound impact in the lives of the creator,helping him make talkies in several other languages like Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.In the same year, the film receive the award for Best Feature Film in Tamil in the Seventh National Film Awards. She finally got married to National Muthaliyar after divorcing actor S S Rajendran.
