C. V. Sridhar, full name is Chithamur Vijayaraghuvulu Sridhar, born on 22nd July 1933, was an Indian screenwriter and film director. His zodiac sign was cancer. He directed over 60 films in the three languages of Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. He was born in Chengalpattu, Madras Presidency, British India. He did his schooling from St. Josephs Higher Secondary School, Madras. In school, he started writing plays and staging them from the 7th standard itself. When he was 18 years of age, he went to AVM productions with a story Latchiyavathi, but they rejected his story though Avvai T. K. Shanmugam liked his story very much and he asked him to prepare the script.

It was one of the best dramas TKS Brothers ever hosted. Jupiter Pictures liked the play as well and asked some writers to write the script for the film, but TK Shanmugum insisted that a chance should be given to Sridhar to write the script, and this was when he entered the cinemas. Sridhar then wrote dialogues for the Tamil and Telugu film ‘Parivartana’. He then wrote for many other films like Maaman Magal, ‘ Maheshwari Maheswari is a popular South Indian film actress, >> Read More... ’, Amara Deepam, Maadharula Mannikkam, Engal Vettu Mahalaskhmi, Yaar Paiyan, Manjal Mahimai Uthama Puthiran, and Punar Jenmam.

When working as a writer, he gained knowledge about the film production and became a producer in partnership with ‘Krishnamoorthi’, ‘Govindarajan’, and ‘Sundararajan’ in Venus Production. They produced movies like Amara Deepam and Uthama Puthiran, which ran for over 25 weeks and became a history at the Tamil Cinema. He then started his own Production Company called Chithralaya with few of his friends, and they produced many hit films like Vennira Adai, Nenjil Or Aalayam and much more. Nenjil Or Aalayam was made again in Hindi language and called Dil Ek Mandir, and he got nominated for two Filmfare Awards, one for Best Director and the other for Best Writer.

He married ‘Devasena’. He gave opportunities to many new directors as a producer and many new actors (for lead roles and as well as side roles or as a comedian). His film Kaadhalikka Neramallai got great responses and was made again in the Hindi language. His movies were a remix of comedy, serious scenes ,good songs and great scripts. He is said to have a great sense of audience’s reaction and writing and directing films which reached the audience.

In 1997, his health got worse, but he didn’t take any support from anyone and died of a heart attack on 20th October 2008 in Chennai. He got the certificate of Merit for Best Feature Film in Tamil in 1959 for Kalyana Parisu and again the President’s silver medal for Best Feature Film In Tamil in 1962 for Nenjil Or Aalayam. He died on October 28, 2008, at the age of 75 years.
