Charuhasan

Charuhasan is a well known face in the south movie industry. He is the elder brother of south superstar Kamal Haasan. A lawyer by profession, he is a natural actor who has scores of memorable roles to his credit. He has several appearances in the south movies, especially in Tamil, Telugu Kannada and Malayalam movies, covering various languages. He has acted in Tamil television series ‘Chithi & Anandham’.

The National Award has been conferred upon him for the movie ‘Tabarana Kathe’ in 1986 and he has been awarded by the Government of Karnataka for the same movie and same year. He is the father of Tamil Director and Producer Suhasini Maniratnam. His appearance in the Tamil movie ‘Dalpathi’ earned him a critical acclaim. Dalpathi was directed by his son-in-law ‘Mani Ratnam, who himself has a veteran status in the Tamil movie world.

Apart from acting, he has been involved with radio as a radio operator. He is also known for his straight forward views on the movie making business. He has been a great supporter of serious cinema and wants the cine world to exercise its responsibility to the society as he describes the early days of cinema as the most productive days in terms of movies delivering a message related to a social problem.
