Vikranth is an Indian actor in Kollywood. Being a relative (cousin) to superstar Vijay, his debut looked a bit promising. Unlike his cousin Vijay, Vikranth failed to make a mark in Kollywood as an actor. Every film that he had acted only pushed him into the black hole of ‘flop’ dom. However, his first release ‘Karka Kasadara’ in 2005 set many eyes on him as a promising actor but the film flopped, and he failed to make any mark in Kollywood.
His movies like Mudhal Kanave (2007), Nenjathai Killathe (2008), Engal Aasan (2009), Goripalayam (2010), Muthukku Muthaaga (2010) and Sattapadi Kutram (2011) almost ended his career as an actor. Since 2005, he had, at least, one release in every year (except 2006). Only in the year 2010, he had two subsequent releases. Vikranth’s lack of talent came to the fore as he delivered one flop after other every year (till 2011). Despite his continuous failure in few movies, he went to appear in movies like ‘Sattapadi Kutram’ and ‘
’. The only film that saved his position as an actor was ‘Pandiya Naadu’ that featured Vishal and Laxmi Menon in lead roles. This film got released in 2013 and had saved his career, and he appeared in Thakka Thakka, which was also appreciated by many industry actors like Khushbu and Vijay. This film, however, earned mixed reviews and saved Vikaranth’s failing career again.
Vikranth was born on November 13, 1984, in Chennai. Vikaranth is married to Maanasa Hemachandran in 2009. Vikranth has portrayed different characters in different films. His flops continued till the year 2013, but his last two released films saved his career in Tamil film industry. Vikranth’s elder brother is Sanjeev, who is also trying to make a mark as a film director in Kollywood. Sanjeev had made his directorial debut with ‘Thakka Thakka’ in which Vikranth had played the lead role. The actor is awaiting the release of his next flick ‘
’ which is directed by Thirukumaran, starring
in the leading roles. It is true that acting and stardom does not come genetically even. But hard work can make one establish as an actor. The actor can hope yet for a brighter future if he is choosy with the banner and high-budget movies.
