Kavya Ajit (also spelled as Kavya Ajith) is an Indian Playback Singer. She was born in the year 1991 and was brought up in a small town of Kozhikode. To pursue her career she moved to Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. She is a Western violinist and a Carnatic Singer. Her first and foremost teacher in the music world was her grandmother, Kamala Subrahmaniam. Her grandma was also a former All India Radio Artist. She was the one who taught Kavya the basics in the Carnatic Music. Kavya considers that she isn’t a born singer but a trained one. It was her daily rigorous practice session that have brought her to where she is. She completed her studies in engineering and joined a Service Oriented company in Chennai. In the city, when she saw everyone else pursue their dreams, she decided to go after hers too.
She initiated her career as a singer by singing jingles in advertisements. As a kid, Kavya’s dream was to make a mark in the Indian Music Industry. She has stated that her success is a blend of talent, hard work, and luck. She feels herself to be lucky as just by chance she was noticed by musician
. Someone suggested her name to him, and he selected Kavya as a new voice for the Industry. Her debut song was a solo in the year 2013. Her debut song was Engum Nalla Pookkal in the movie Rose Guitarinaal. Kavya rose to fame with the songs Ee Shishirakaalam from the movie
and “Jo and the Boy” flick’s Nee En Kaattaay. These two songs were her real break as they allowed Kavya to get a breakthrough in the Tamil Music Industry. Kavya has revealed that she has been offered the roles of acting in numerous films. However, currently, she is happy singing in movies and loves to do musical concerts and violin shows.
She wants to explore the horizons of vocal arrangement, composing, programming, etc. in the music world. She has also said that this is a great time for all fresh voices as the music directors are looking for new and refined talent.
