Arun Alat is an Indian playback singer and music composer, popular in the Malayali industry for his work in movies like Pyppin Chuvattile Pranayam (2017), Oru Cinemakkaran (2017), Avarude Raavukal (2017), and Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu (2017). Born on 6th October 1988, in Pilicode, Kasargod, Kerela, he made his singing debut through the song Swapnamoru Chaakku from Martin Prakkat’s Malayali film Best Actor (2010).
Music director Bijibal, who is also a National Award winner, had a big role in Arun’s debut. After pursuing Civil Engineering from the Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, he worked at an architectural firm for two years before eventually quitting his job to focus completely on his musical career. Since then, he has sung for various Malayali superstars and has more than 50 credits to his name.
Annupamaa, who was born in 2nd September 1968, is an Indian playback singer. She was born in Chennai to Krishnaswami. From her fourth age, she has been trained in classical music. She was brought up in New Delhi. In 1989 Annupamaa completed her BA degree in English in Kamala Nehru College. Later, she joined the Mass Communication course. But, she left it half way due to her passion for music. During her college days, Annupamaa had taken part in a lot of singing competitions and had been a jingles creator. She had worked in a lot of jingles with “A R Rahman,” before Rahman forayed into cinema. July Madham Vandhal from Puthiya Mugam in 1993 was the first official debut of Annupamaa. Although the song was a super hit, she was recognized well by the audiences only with Chandralekha song in Thiruda Thiruda.
Even now many of the people know her only with the prefix Chandralekha Annupamaa. The song with her high pitch composition is still on the top songs list of Rahman and Annupamaa. During the early 1990s, Annupamaa was one among the most sought singers in the industry. Halla Gulla from Bombay, Dil Se Re from Dil Se, Maro Maro from “Boys” and Mercury Pookal from Ratchagan are some of her super hit songs. Annupamaa has sung in all the south Indian languages and Hindi films. She has also performed a French song in a Malayalam movie. She composed and sang an anthem in 2013 for China-South Asia Expo. She was awarded for the composition as one of the best entries. Annupamma had also sung for the hit English films that were dubbed and released in Indian languages.
Anuppamaa has sung for almost all the popular musicians including Rahman, “Deva,” “Vidyasagar,” Karthik Raja, Shakar Ehsaan Loy, Harris Jayaraj, Ranjit Barot, “Bharathwaj” and Yuvan Shankar Raja. Annupamaa has completed the 6th grade in Trinity College of Music. Besides singing, Annupamaa is a trained actor and had staged some dramas too. She is well versed in Sanskrit and that is the reason why she could handle all the languages with ease. She is the Ambassador of The South India Chapter of We for WE. She organized a medical camp for the underprivileged women on International Women’s Day in 2015. It is organized to launch We for WE in the southern states. Although Annupamaa is not singing a bunch of songs as before, she never misses the opportunity when it comes to playback singing. When we think of Carnatic music, invariably the names of various eminent singers from the South India comes to our mind. Annupamaa is one such name. She was born on September 2, 1968, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She began to take classes of Carnatic music from the tender age of four and trained so hard that at mere eight years of her age, she became capable of participating in various competitions. She did her schooling from St. Anthony's Senior Secondary School in New Delhi and has done Bachelor in Arts from Kamala Nehru College. She then enrolled herself in Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, to pursue a course in mass communication. However, she dropped the India and decided to fulfill her life-long dream of becoming a singer. Her husband, J. Murali Krishnan, is the National Creative Director and an Executive Vice-President of the Optima Response. She started working as a copy trainee for an ad agency and steadily rose to fame courtesy her jingles and singing.
She composed music for products like Aavin Goodness ice cream, Ponds Dreamflower Soap, and Talc, Trupti, AVT Deepika Coconut Oil, Tatia Resorts, Medimix, and Diplomat Whisky. She has even worked with A. R. Rahman, who was then not so famous and would use his birth name A. S. Dilip Kumar, on some of the advertisements. In fact, it was he who gave her a break in the film industry with the song July Maddham Vanthal. But it was Thiruda Thiruda's Chandralekha that made her a household name. Offers began to pour in from all quarters, but she chose to do work that challenged her as an artist. She veered towards other languages like Hindi and English as well.
She has also lent her voice to Break the Rules, Dil Se Re, Hay Hay Ye Mazboori, Ichankaatule Muyal Onnu, if you wanna, Ied Ka Din, I Want to Be Free, Jaan Tum Ho Meri, Nazrein Milaana Nazrein Churaana, July Maddham Vanthal, Sundara En Sundara, Pappu Can't Dance, Teri Jawani Mast Mast, Yaa Rasool Khuda, and much more. Annupamaa has also judged a Sun TV channel's reality show titled Sangeeta Mahayuddham. She has gone to Trinity College of Music to learn piano is now a sixth-grade student. She is devoted to social causes as well and is the leader and the ambassador of The South India Chapter of We for WE, which is an NGO that works to make women aware of their rights. Currently, she is busy compiling a solo album.

Though, she became the most sought-after singer after 'Dil Se' or 'Thiruda Thiruda,' she was very choosy in selecting the songs and this made her the most versatile singer of her era. , She has sung popular songs even in Bollywood and they include her tracks from 'Aks,' 'Dus,' and many others. She was nominated for best playback singer in star screen awards in 2002 for her song Yeh Raat in the film Aks.
Before coming in playback singing for movies, she made herself a jingle composer and singer in the early 90's. Born on 2 September 1968, the singer completed her education from New Delhi. Although her childhood passed in Chennai, she has fluency in Hindi and Sanskrit. In the early 1990s, when A. S. Dilip Kumar aka A. R. Rahman tried his luck in big-budgeted movies in Tamil or Hindi, Anupama's vocal songs really blazed the chart.
She gained instant recognition with Rahman's score, and this turned out to be a turning point in her career. Her career grew with movies like 'Bombay,' 'Boys,' 'Kadal Desam,' 'Ratchagan,' and many more. Later on, she made her own identity in playback singing. She is a drop out from Mass communication degree and had worked as a trainee as a copywriter for ad agencies.
