Radhika Kumaraswamy, also known as Kutty Radhika, is a film actress and producer. She was the lead actress in early 2000s in Kannada film industry. She was born on 1 November 1986 in Mangalore. (26 November 2000), however, in 2002, Ratan Kumar filed a complaint against Radhika’s father (Devraj) saying that it was him behind her abduction, and he did so as he think that news of her marriage might ruin her career.
After few days, the marriage was declared invalid on the basis that Ratan had married Radhika forcefully. Devraj also claimed that Ratan tried to burn Radhika alive. Later that year, Ratan died of heart attack. In 2006, Radhika married H. D. Kumaraswamy, a former Cheif Minister of Karnataka. However, she revealed the same only in 2010.
The couple has a daughter, Shamika K. Swamy. Radhika began her career when she was in ninth standard. Her debut movie was Neela Megha Shama (2002), a Kannada movie. Her first release Ninagagi and second release Tavarige were commercial hits. In 2003, she did five Kannada movies, and all were major flops. Radhika’s failure to deliver successful Kannada films led her to Tamil film industry.
She made her debut in Tamil film industry with the movie, Iyarkai. In spite of Iyarkai’s poor box office returns, Radhika's performance as Gowri in Tayi Illada Tabbali won her the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress. Radhika has her production studio, Shamika Enterprises. She named it after her daughter’s name. Her latest release (2014) was a Telugu mythology, Avataram.
