Monal Gujjar never dreamt of becoming an actress. She hails from Ahmadabad. She was neither a make-up doll nor a glam doll to make an entry to glamor industry. She was just an employee in a bank who cleared the audition of fashion show by luck and chance and climbed the ladder to stardom with her positive attitude. Monisha Ravishankar or simply Monisha is an Indian actress who has featured in Tamil serials. In 2006, Monisha debuted with Kana Kaanum Kaalangal, a school drama. Apart from Hemalatha and Lingeswaran, STAR Vijay held auditions for the cast which included a couple of teenagers. The producers of the show did not want the cast to have any prior experience in acting. Instead, they wished to portray school students as natural as possible. With the show revolving around adolescents and their lives, Kana Kaanum Kaalangal attracted a lot of teenage viewers. Monisha essayed the character of Sanghavi. Kana Kaanum Kaalangal has set the trend in Tamil dramas, and STAR Vijay Super has re-aired the show since January 2017. In 2007, Monisha and her co-star Irfan participated in the second season of Jodi No 1, a dance reality show on Star Vijay. They were among the eight couples who competed for the title. The duo impressed the judges and audience with their scintillating performance on the stage. The duo was among the finalists. However, they finished as 2nd runner-up. In 2011, Monisha joined the theater where she acted in several plays. Monisha became a member of Stray Factory, a drama troupe working in Chennai. Her team presented “Man from Earth.” Director Naveen George Thomas lauded Monisha and others for their enthusiasm. This 70-minute play got a positive reception from the audience and thespians alike. Monisha was a part of the group “The Hot Shoe Dance Company” which brought a musical “Hairspray.”. Monisha insisted that the play intended to make people aware that everyone is unique and we should accept the differences. With the backdrop in the 1960s, Hairspray had its first screening on 15 October 2011. It also collaborated with Canadian organization working for the welfare of HIV and cancer patients. As the play had a lot of dancing sequences, Monisha had to attend dancing classes under the guidance of choreographers. As the team got praises from the critics, the troupe decided to stage its musical in various cities across the country. The musical also involved the use of live singing too. On 20 July 2012, Monisha got hitched to Arjun Thomas at The Green Meadows in Chennai. Monisha wore a white gown for the Christian wedding ceremony. The couple invited their relatives and kept the function as a low-profile one. For those who do not know about Arjun, he is an RJ working for Chennai Live 104.8 FM.
