‘Aashritha’ was born in Andhra Pradesh. She was a model for many advertisements and also walked the ramp for various professional modeling events before she turned to acting. She was the 2015 winner of Vivel Beauty Face and was also the runner-up for Miss Andhra Pradesh, narrowly missing the first place.
Aashritha has acted in several short films before trying for professional films. Her first film was titled ‘Orange Mittai’, which was a Tamil film directed by Biju Viswanath, and featured the veteran actor Vijay Sethupathi Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi was not born with silv >> Read More... in a prominent role. Apart from acting, Vijay has also taken an active interest in the pre-production and post-production of the film, and he had also witnessed the audition process in which Aashritha was casted for the role of Kavya, a typical Tamil girl. As soon as she tried the costume of a typical country girl of Tamil Nadu, the makers were convinced that she was fit for the character. Director Biju Viswanath had personally selected her after seeing her picture in several advertisements.
The movie ‘Orange Mittai’, according to her, does not fall into any particular genre and it is a black humour on the societal conditions prevalent in modern times. Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of a fifty-year-old candy selling man, which inspires the title- ‘Orange Mittai’. Like the particular sweet known as Orange Mittai, which is both sweet and bitter, the movie portrays the two main aspects of life, which are happiness and sorrow. Working on the movie was an interesting experience for her since it was her debut project, and she is thankful to the cast and crew for making it a pleasurable experience and giving her ample amount of time to perform. She found it extremely fulfilling to work with Vijay Sethupathi, since he personally oversaw her performance, guiding her and even altering her dialogues so that she could adapt to them. Vijay’s role had been crucial for Aashritha in building up the character of Kavya. Though initially, she felt that Vijay was over-interfering with her performance, she later realized that he was in fact helping her in delivering her true potential.
Though there were a lot of opportunities in Telugu films, Aashritha purposefully chose to act in a Tamil movie, since she had a deep passion for learning Tamil, knowing more about its culture and people. Her next movies are also planned to be shot in Tamil and Malayalam, as she decides to adapt to these industries before trying Telugu or Kannada.
