Analysis
‘Orange Mittai’ is one of the few films that lives up to its name: sweet and simple. Based on the unlikely bond between a grumbling paramedic and a paranoid patient, this is a journey of rediscovery.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this project is the brainchild of Vijay Sethupathi. After all, he is handling most of the crucial departments of this film. Yet, nowhere do we feel awkward or bored.
Following a powerful performance in the recently released ‘ Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai Click to look into! >> Read More... ,’ Vijay Sethupathi has opted for a novel approach in ‘Orange Mittai.’ As the obstinate, borderline paranoid guy Kailasam, Vijay proves why he is a force to reckon with in acting.
Ramesh Thilak is equally impressive as Sathya, a paramedic who has yet to overcome the loss of his rather repulsive father. He least expects his return in the form of a patient named Kailasam, and yet bonds with him over his childish demands, as well as his battle against loneliness. Although nothing is similar in plot to the Tamil film ‘ Anbe Sivam Anbe Sivam is a Tamil TV series that aired on Zee >> Read More... ,’ the bonding between the two does remind some viewers of one.Â
This film is a beautiful commentary on old age and human relations. It might not be picture-perfect, but if you’re not the one to nitpick, ‘Orange Mittai’ is a refreshing experience in itself

Verdict
‘Orange Mittai’ is a complete package. It may not be flawless, but writer cum producer Vijay Sethupathi has ensured that the audiences get what they were promised: a sweet, simple family entertainer. It is more than just a one-time watch for sure.
