Initially, it looked like Aishwarya Rajinikanth had moved on from the failure of “Lal Salaam”. However, her latest statement might land her in deeper trouble than imagined.
In an interview with a magazine, Aishwarya Rajinikanth described how the box office failure of “Laal Salaam” has affected her. However, instead of accepting the blame, she tried to explain how the presence of Rajinikanth was not properly integrated.
According to Aishwarya, the makers decided to give Rajinikanth an entry into the first half, as compared to the later entry in the second half. Since this was not properly done, the film failed. However, this bizarre explanation has not gone down well with the cinema-goers, who know reality better. They accused Aishwarya of trying too hard to cover up for her ‘blunders’.
“Lal Salaam” is a sports drama that was directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, the film had Rajinikanth in an extended cameo appearance. Yet, the film failed to attract any audience and sank at the box office within a week. The film managed to generate a lifetime collection of barely 36 crores, compared to a significant budget of 90 crores. The domestic collection was even lower than the dubbed collection of the Malayalam film ‘Manjummel Boys’!
