Hamsavardhan is a well-known film actor, who predominantly acted in the Tamil film industry. He is the son of Vimala and the late legendary actor and director, Ravichandran. He has one brother from his father’s first marriage. His father died due to multi-organ failure in July 2011.
Hamsavardhan was debuted in the 1999 film entitled Manaseega Kadhal, helmed by his father. He played a dual role in the film, but it failed to make it to the box-office. He then appeared in the super hit Tamil film Vadgapatti Mappillai, along with Reshma. In year 2002, Hamsavardhan acted in the commercially successful multi-starrer love drama film, Punnagai Desam, which stars Tarun, Preitha, Kunal and Sneha. , along with Mammootty and the former Miss Malaysia, Leena. However, the film didn’t make it to the box-office. He also acted in Nettru Varai Nee Yaaro Naan Yaaro in the year 2002. In the following year, Hamsavardhan acted in a supporting role in Jai Akash-starrer Inidhu Inidhu Kadhal Inidhu.
After a long gap, Hamsavardhan acted in his father’s directorial venture entitled Manthiran in the year 2005. This film became controversial because of their father-and-son combination. After this, it was announced that they would do another film entitled Kandeepan and that he also signed for Nagu’s film entitled Idiot. But Kandeepan remained unmade and he was replaced by Tamil actor, Yogi in Idiot. In 2007, Hamsavardhan shaved his head in Piragu, a film that was produced by his father. However, the film went unnoticed. He started his other films Bomman and Guru 2009, but it was never finished. Hamsavardhan took part in the
