Amshan Kumar is a Tamil Director. Filmmaker Kumar is also a writer. He has the fame of receiving the National Film award. His debut feature film was ‘Oruththi.’ The film was released in 2003. Oruththi was fortunate to have been screened in the International Film Festival of India. The audience of the Indian Panorama Section also got a chance to watch this beautiful film. Since then, his movies have been screened in much of the film festivals, that too on an international level.
In his direction life, he created about twenty-five documentaries. Many of these works received innumerable awards. To quote a few- Best Film award from Government of Pondicherry and Tamil Association of New Jersey. Amshan Kumar is active from 1995 to date. He currently lives in Chennai but born in the Trichy district of Tamilnadu. In the year 2015, he received National Film Award for his documentary film Yazhpanam Thedchanamoorthy- music beyond boundaries.
