Both Tamil film actor and comedian, Sathyan is the only son of the veteran producer Madhampatty Sivakumar. Actor Sathyaraj is his uncle while Sibiraj is his cousin. Sathyan studied at PSG College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore. After graduating with a BBM degree, he entered the film industry by playing the lead role in the Ilaiyaraaja musical Ilaiyavan, which was produced by his father himself.

He made his acting debut with the film Illaiyavan in 1999. After that, he has been appearing in supporting roles for various films. Another break of his was in Shankar’s Nanban playing the role of Srivatsan.
