So, the Malayalee audience had always accepted Communist films with full heart. There are certain characters which retain their grip in the mind of the viewers for a long time. 1. Moideen Of Ennu Ninte Moideen

This story takes place in the village of Mukkam, in Kannur, which is a highly communist area. Moideen is a socio- political activist and an active member of the Communist party. The fierceness and spirit of the politician in Moideen took all over Kerala by storm recently. Moideen is an epitome of ideal love and at the same time a loyal politician. R.S Vimal directed this masterpiece.

2. Cuba Mukundan Of Arabikatha

This is the heart touching story of Mukundan enacted by Sreenivasan, who is a staunch communist. This movie, directed by Lal Jose, brings out both the virtues and vices of the party. Mukundan, who is a loyal servant of the party, is embittered by the same party or rather its members. The ardent communist dialogues of this movie are always an asset to the leftist members.

3. Shiva Subramanya Iyer Of Rakthasakshikal Sindabad

This is an evergreen hit communist movie in Malayalam is directed by Venu Nagavalli. In this film, Mohanlal stars as Shiva Subramanya Iyer and Suresh Gopi as Urmees Tharakan Mappilassery. The film, set in pre-independent India tells the story of a struggle of the labour community of Kerala and the revolution of the Communist party to bring an end to the caste-ridden society.

4. Nettooran Of Lal Salam

The character Nettooran played by Mohanlal is an all-time favorite communist hero. It tells the story of three comrades- Nettoor Stephen (Mohanlal), T.K Antony (Murali) and Sethulakshmi (Geetha) who works all day and night for the empowerment of the labor class. Directed by Venu Nagavalli, it also traces the efforts of the Communist party in Kerala.

5. Induchoodan Of Gulmohar

The character Induchoodan played by Ranjith in the film Gulmohar reveals yet another face of communism in Kerala. This movie, directed by Jayaraj is the story of a revolutionary who took the words of Che Guevara by heart. He sets out to put an end to the malpractices of the bourgeois society and to save the tribal people who were long exploited by them.

6. Joseph Of Thalappavu

Joseph (Prithviraj) plays the role of a revolutionary naxalite who is gunned down in a fake encounter. Joseph fights for the rights of the farmers in Wayanad and against illegal exploitation of them. The real life confession of the police officer who killed Joseph made the plot for this movie.

7. Raghavan Of Adimakal Udamakal

The character Raghavan is played by Mammootty. This film, directed by I.V Sasi, depicts the conflict between the employer and the employee. Raghavan is the leader of the workers who is in a constant struggle against the company owners to grant the rights of manual laborers. But finally, he gets killed by his men.

8. Chellappan Of Anubhavangal Palichakal

This movie, directed by K.S Sethumadhavan, is set in the backdrop of the communist movement in Kerala. Chellappan is a fervent communist devotee and he soon becomes the leader of the working class. This movie depicts the life of Chellappan and also traces the many events of the communist movement.

9. Comrade Abdulla Of Shikkar

Though the character Abdulla played by Samuthirakkani is a small one, it makes a long lasting impact on the mind of the audience. Abdulla is a naxelite, who fights against the police and the authority for the rights of the tribal working class people. But he is finally killed by the police in a trap encounter.

10. Manoj Of Tattathin Marayathu

Manoj Menon enacted by Deepak Parambol is the young communist follower in the movie ‘Tattathin Marayathu’. Even though he plays a supporting artist, a fierce communist is often revealed in him. Along with the success of the movie, the character of Manoj too made a wave among youngsters.
