Anand Jeeva took birth in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu as the oldest child of father Jeeva Nanthan and mother Thamizharasi. His father is a writer, film critic, and a notable artist. Anand had a younger sister named Meena. His paternal uncle V Manikandan is an established cinematographer.

Anand Jeeva completed his graduation degree in Visual Communication from the Loyola College, situated in Chennai. After completing his graduation, he started assisting G Venkat Ram, who is a leading fashion photographer and celebrity. He later took admission in the Movie and TV Training Institute, where he completed his Diploma in Movie Technology and Television Production (Cinematography). Later, Anand worked as an assistant cinematographer for Nirav Shah.

He established himself as an independent cinematographer in 2011 by shooting Vinmeengal, a Tamil movie, which was directed by Vignesh Menon. His next movie was Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham, which was directed by K Chandru and produced by AGS Entertainment.
