Vijaya Sarathy

Vijaya Sarathy is an actor, VJ, and a channel head. Vijayasarathy is the son of veteran actor Sasikumar and Sasikala. When Vijay was four years old and his sister was six years old, his parents died in a fire accident while lighting the cooking gas in the kitchen. After their parents’ death, Vijay and his sister were cared for by their maternal grandmother. Vijayasarathy completed his schooling at PSSS School, Chennai. He graduated from Madras Presidency College. Vijay started his career as an anchor cum producer on Jaya TV in 1996. Then he moved to Sun TV. He is popular for walking back while anchoring the show Neengal Ketta Padal. He was the Channel Head at Sun TV. Vijayasarathy was the CEO of MTV Sri Lanka and the Zee Network. Vijaya Sarathy is married to Surekha Vijayasarathy and has a son, Shashank Vijayasarathy. Vijayasarathy’s son works in the media, following in his footsteps. He is an actor, too.

In 2020, Vijayasarathy was in Sri Lanka working for Shakthi TV. During Corona Pandemic, he was struck there. He returned to India after a couple of years. Vijayasarathy runs a YouTube channel and shares his professional and personal experiences. In 2024, Vijayasarathy acted in a web series and a movie. Vijayasarathy has acted in over 55 TV series and also interviewed 50+ celebs in his career as a VJ.

Another Version

Vijayasarathy is one the experts in the field of anchoring. Vijay started his career with JJ TV as producer and compere. He has spent his life with his grandparents, and so he is very respectful to everyone he works. Less talk and much work make no sense for compere like him because his job is to talk and entertain people.

Vijayasarthy lost his parents in an accident in the tender age. Since then his grandparents took him in and are his family. He is the only son of SasiKumar, who was a veteran actor by profession. He says that he barely remembers his dad, he could see him only in the recorded films in which his dad worked. Though he was a son of an actor, he had no thoughts to join the industry.

Vijayasarthy completed his post graduation in zoology and started his career as a medical representative in Hindustan Ciba-Geigy. He credits Ciba for sharpening his communication skills and for making him talk to people who turned him into an extrovert.

After some time, a friend advised him to join JJ TV. So he joined JJ TV as producer and compere. His first serial as lead role was Marmadesam, directed by Naga; this was the turning point in his life. But his major break was when he enacted as Fraud Kannan in the TV serial Chitthi.

People started recognizing him from that serial. Apart from playing the lead role in TV series like Chitthi and Vikramaditya, he has also played hero in Tamil films. 

This programme is tremendously popular on Sun TV, and its TRP ranking is one among the top few. As part of this show, Vijay has traveled almost entire India and some of the foreign countries.
