Bala Ganapathi William

Bala Ganapathi William known as BGW in the short is a famous actor, television host, film director, producer and also a singer known in the Malaysian Film Industry. He was pursuing Mechatronics Engineering but dropped out in his second year of university to pursue acting. He founded BGW Studios Companies that specialise in Malaysian Tamil Film Production (MKU), Advertising, Film distribution, music record and digital content. His first TV appearance was at the age of 19 in 2009 in a program called ‘Alaram 2’ on Astro Vaanavil. His debut as a host was in November 2012 for a dance show called ‘Yuttha Medai.’ His acting debut was also in 2012 for the TV drama ‘Vazhkai Valvatharke’ on Astro Vaanavil. ‘Alarum Pookkal’ in 2013 was the first drama where he acted as the lead. The TV show ‘Rasikka Rusikka’ was the reason for his career peak in 2014, leading to his travel to Thailand and Singapore for the 4th season of the show.

He has finished 5 seasons of the show which account for 78 episodes. As a musician his debut song was ‘Kaadhal Enbathu Saabama’ released on 3rd August, 2017. Two of his other songs are ‘Intha Kaadhale Venam’ released on 21st February, 2018, ‘Tokkam Illaiy’ from the Neeyum Naanum movie. By 2020 William has acted in over 20 Malaysian Tamil films, 1000 episodes of TV programs both nationally and internationally. He received the Best Host Award in the Malaysian MGR Youth Association, in 2016 and the Persatuan Peminat ASTRO Vaanavil Negeri Kedah in 2017. He received the Most Promising Artist of the Year in Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan Award for 2017, the Best Debut Director in the Cinefest Malaysia Award for the movie Neeyum Naanum in 2019 and the Best Debut Director & Best Movie in the MICA Awards in 2019.
