Malayalam Writer Salin Mankuzhy

Salin Mankuzhy was born on 31 May 1969 at Mankuzhi near Venjaramudu in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He resides in Trivandrum, Kerela. His parents are Vidyadharan and N.Girijamani. His wife is Secretariat Officer G. Sheela. He has two children called Anena and Advaita. He studied at Janatha H.S.S in Thempammood and Government L.P.S in Cheeranikkara. He also went to Kerala University for his Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism. He did his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts in Malayalam Literature at M.G College in Trivandrum. He studied L.L.B at Government Law College from 1992-95.

He has been a composer for Askashvani and Doordarshan since 1990. He worked as a News Reader at Akashvsni and Kerala Kaumudi in Trivandrum from 1995-97. He was a former Program Producer and News Reader at Radio Asia in Dubai, U.A.E, from 1997-2000, a former News Reader and Translator at All India Radio (band) in Trivandrum from 2003-07, and a former Head at Victers Education Channel in Thiruvananthapuram from 2014-16. He was also an Interviewer at Doordarshan and Surya TV. He has been an Additional Director and Coordinating News Editor at the Information Public Relations Department, Kerela.

He debuted as a story and dialogue writer in the Malayalam Film Industry with the movie Nottam- The Gaze (2006), directed by Shashi Paravoor. This film won awards, which include the Indian Panorama Selection and the State Film Award for great songwriting and best singer. He wrote the story and dialogue for the movie White Paper (2012) by Radhakrishnan Mangalat. He was also the author of Kaval, directed by Nemam Pushparaj in Cross Road, an anthology movie with ten films by ten directors released on 13 October 2017, chaired by Lenin Rajendra. This anthology focused on women's issues.

He won many honours and awards, which include the State Television Award for Best Storyteller in 2015, the State Television Award for Best Commentator in 2016, and the Surendran Smarak Kathapuraskaram for Best Television Interviewer by Kerala Secretariat Employees Association for the short film River Life in 2018. He has also published many stories. His first story collection was called Peral, released in 2019. The Malayalam storybook Patha U/A (2021), published under D.C Books, and the Malayalam novel Ethirva (2023) under Chintha Publications, the screenplays Nottam and Cross Road are also some of his known published works.
