EM Ashraf is a renowned Indian writer, journalist, author, and film critic, active mainly in the Malayalam entertainment industry. He was born on a family in Kadalai, a village in Kannur, Kerala. His parents are the late K. P. Moidu and E. Ayshabi. Ashraf completed his post-graduation in MA, Malayalam, and holds a degree in Journalism (MJ). After completing his education, he began his career as a writer for a regional Malayalam magazine named Kala Kaumudi. Ashraf also worked for Kerala Kaumudi, a Malayalam language newspaper.

Later, he joined Kairali Tv, an Indian Malayalam language entertainment channel. EM Ashraf served as the director of the Middle East News and Programmes Malayalam entertainment channel, Kairal Tv. Ashraf wrote several articles, columns, and books in Malayalam. In his career, Ashraf held many positions of President at the Indian Media Forum, Kannur, and Kerala working journalist union. He also worked at Doordarshan as an Advisory committee member and at the Police Press relation committee to the Chief Minister of Kerala.
