She won the Asianet Best Actress award 2014 at Asianet TV Awards for a serial Parasparam directed by Jayakumar. In this young age, the actress dared to play a mother character, Padmavathiyamma, mother of Suresh and Sooraj. This leading role made her very popular among all Television audience. 

She hails from Trivandrum. Her father late Ratheesh, who was from Trivandrum, was a dubbing artist and mother late P. K Radha devi, from Thodupuzha, was a film and TV actress and dubbing artist in Malaylam movies. Rekha’s mother P. K Radha devi has acted in over 300 movies and dubbed for over 600 movies and is a receipient of Snageetha Nataka Academy Award. Rekha started acted in a Tamil movie as a child at the age of three. Rekha was very active in arts and sports during her school days.  At the age of 16 she acted in a serial Nirakootukal directed by Srivatsan. Her first major role was as Subadra in  Manassu directed by A M Nazeer. In this, she is one of three sisters, but her supporting role developed into a leading role as the serial progressed. She had a career break due to personal reasons and returned to miniscreen through Nakshathra Deepangal, a reality show for TV artists, on Kairali TV in 2011. In 2012-2013, her negative role Madathil amma (Abi’s mother) in the serial Ayirathil Oruval, telecasted in Mazhavil Manorama,  brought her a lot of appreciations. Now, the role of Padmavathyamma in Parasparam serial is bringing out the artist in Rekha to its fullest. Rekha is also a good dancer and she was seen performing at the Asianet TV  awards 2014.

Rekha lives in  Trivandrum now. She married four times. She married to Yousaf then after a divorce she married to an actor Nirmal Prakash then she began to known as Rekha Nirmal. She has a one-year-old son Ayan from this relation. Now, Rekha and her son are separated from Abhilash.
