Beena Sabu

Beena Sabu is a Malayalam actress who hails from the village of Kumbalangi, Kerala. Her parents are Joseph and Reeta, and Beena was their eldest daughter. Beena was interested in arts and dancing from her childhood and has acted in various movies and serials. Beena was featured in 2 episodes of the show, ‘Oli Mangata Tarangal’, on the Surya Television channel. This show features the experiences of old actors. After the sudden death of her father, she became an actress who also had to handle the responsibility of her seven-member family. Her first movie was “Randu Mugham”, followed by “Chappa” and “Kallan Pavithran.”

Though she has acted in many movies, the role in “Kallan Pavithran” is her favorite. She got the opportunity to act in many movies till 1985. But due to her family responsibilities, she was unable to relocate from her village. This coupled with her inability to network and innocence hampered her chances to take up more important roles. She essayed small but important roles in movies like “Ambada Njane” and “Kakke Kakke Koodevide”. Though an actress, she has not even watched all her movies. She married a business man, Sabu, in 1996.

But unfortunately, Beena’s husband fell ill in 2004, and she had to take a break from movies to take care of him. She also acted with the new age actors in movies like “Kalyana Raman”, “Pulival Kalyanam”, “Sadanandante Samayam”, “Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan” and “Sharja to Sharja”. Though she has acted in more than 150 movies, she is not familiar with the new age directors and producers. She is, however, looking forward to a strong comeback.
