Sreekumar Moosad works as an assistant sound recordist with the Kerala State Film Development and Corporation. Before donning the role of a sound engineer, Moosad pursued a postgraduate diploma in audio engineering. He also focused on audiovisual communications technologies while pursuing the course at the College of Applied Sciences, Vadakkanchery, in 2010.
Born in 1988 to Sree Latha Devi, Moosad schooled at Zamorins Higher Secondary School. In 2006, he pursued a bachelor’s in electronics, electrical, and electronics engineering at the Bharathiar University. Initially, Moosad landed a job as a junior assistant sound engineer at Plugins Media Solution, Calicut, in 2011. In 2012, he served as a sound recordist with Vykhari Studios in Cherukkunnu, Kannur, working under the acclaimed singer and musician ‘Kanjhgad Ramachandran.’
After that, Sreekumar landed the role of a sound engineer at Rhythm Studios, Calicut, where he worked for more than two years. During his stint with the studio, Moosad mixed and dubbed shows for the Malayalam channel Surya TV. He also mixed and dubbed movies for different television channels, besides dubbing cartoon shows for Kochu TV. In 2015, he joined Janam TV, Thiruvananthpuram, engaging in sound recording and sound designing for various shows. His role also entailed music production and controlling the audio machines. Moosad was the sound recorder for the 2019 Malayalam short film ‘Thanal: The Shade.’
The sound engineer has displayed skills in sound, design, editing, and mixing. He is also adept at studio recording, audio engineering and recording, and music production. He also possesses advanced level knowledge of Protocols, Studio One, and Logic Pro. In addition to these, his expertise includes audio post-production, Steinberg Nuendo, and Cubase, besides being a percussionist, whereby he can play mrudanga and chenda.
