Arun S Mani

Arun S. Mani is an Indian Sound Designer, Mix Engineer, and Foley editor. He predominantly works in Malayalam and Tamil film Industry. Arun is famous for his work in Velayudham (2011), Pizza (2013), Inam, Left Right Left and 1 by two. Arun was born on 1984 in Kaapil, a beautiful rural area in Thiruvananthapuram, Tamil Nadu. He spent most of his childhood in Nedumangad in Tamil Nadu. His parents Mani and Padma both are teachers. His brother Prem kumar RL works in the advertising world. Arun was passionate about films from a young age.

He bunked his classes and went to watch films in halls. One day he watched the 1992 blockbuster Roja and fell in love with A.R Rahman’s music and sound editing of H. Sridhar. He then completed his B Tech from T.K.M College of Engineering in the stream of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. After that, Arun studied Audio Engineering at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE), Chennai. After that, he got the chance to do internship at Four Frames Sound Company.

Arun interned under the supervision of Audiographer M.R. Raja krishnan. He later became an assistant under him and worked in various Marathi movies. Then he worked in a short film named The Rat: A Sexy Tale. He started out as an independent sound engineer in the movie Ee Adutha Kaalath (2012) where he worked as a Foley Editor. He garnered the attention of the critics with his next project Pizza (2013), a Tamil horror-thriller. Working with his colleague Vishnu PC, his use of haunting melodies earned rave reviews. Arun shot to fame with his subtle and emotional sound delivery in the Romantic Drama Left Right Left (2013).

He again delivered exquisite sound effects in 2014 Blockbuster Om Shaanthi Oosthana. His intelligent work in socio-political drama Inam (2014) also blew the audience away. Since then, Arun created sound effects for various ground-breaking films.

Be it action movie Kirumi (2015) or family drama Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu (2016), Arun’s musical brilliance was written all over the course of these films. Arun is also the founder of renowned OLI Sound Lab. He got married on December 13, 2013, to Nandini, A Srilankan. Now he resides in Chennai with his Family. His upcoming projects include Vimaanam (2017) and Tiyaan (2017).
