Thirunainar Kurichi Madhavan Nair was a poet, lyricist, and novelist of Indian origins. Most of his works are in Malayalam. Thirunainar Kurichi Madhavan Nair was born in 1916 in Colachel district present-day Kanyakumari. Thirunainar lived a tough childhood after his father died early. He completed his education in his hometown and became a teacher at a local school to earn his livelihood. He had been fond of writing since the time he was young. He began writing songs for movies at the suggestion of his producer friend P. Subramaniam under the production house Merryland Studios. He had close professional associations with music director Lakshmanan and together they went on to create several songs.
He also worked at a radio station for some time which later became a part of All India Radio. His writings include Pension Kunnu, Grama Seema, Mayadevi, Paricharika, Maina, Kadamakakkuvendi, and Cheriya Valiyavan. The Malayalam movie ‘Kattumaina’ was an adaptation of his novel Maina. Songs written by him are Ishwara Chinthaithonne Manujanu, Athmavidyalayame, and many more. He died at the young age of 49 due to cancer. He was married and had a daughter.
