Baiju Gopinathan is a freelance actor, director, and producer of Indian origin. He was born and brought up in Thiruvananthapuram in the state of Kerala. He has worked mostly in the television industry, on documentaries, and in the animation department. He has studied Law at the University of Kerala. Later he studied for a Post Graduation Diploma in Journalism from the Institute of Journalism, Press Club in Trivandrum. He started his career in animation with Toonz Animation Private Limited in 2001 and worked there for eight years.
He started as an assistant to the creative director and was promoted to line producer, Head of Production Operations, and then to Studio Line Producer. He worked as a director and producer at MERRITO Entertainment in Bangalore for a year. In 2014, he formed Absolute Expressions – a film and media production label, and has been working there ever since. He has to his credit the direction of the short film Close Up (2011). He has worked in the animation work of the series Freefonix (2008-2009).
