Like her mother who has acted in Malayalam, and Tamil and Hindi movies, Utthara Unni too wants to make an impact in South Indian movies. She is a qualified dancer and heads a dance academy ( Kala Kendra) in Bahrain. The dance academy was set up by her mother and named as ‘Angopanga’ which is located in Bahrain.  

Utthara Unni has so far acted in two regional movies. In between her busy dance schedule, shooting schedules and studies, the actress even had tried her hand in direction. She directed a short horror film titled ‘Randaam Varavu’ and bagged a prestigious award (Drishya award). After watching her directorial abilities, even director Hariharan congratulated her for her efforts and had advised her to concentrate more in direction than acting. 

Utthara Unni made her debut with a Tamil film ‘Vavval Pasanga’ which released in 2012, and the film was directed by Suresh. The film had actor Rahul opposite Utthara Unni. After a fluke debut, she is waiting now for the release of her second film ‘Edavapathy’’ which has Bollywood actor Manisha Koirala Manisha Koirala, is a Bollywood actress of Nepales >> Read More... and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in the cast. Actress Utthara Unni will be playing the role of a courtesan girl Vasavadatta who is in love with a Tibetian monk. Manisha will be playing Utthara’s mother in the movie. The actress has done a brilliant dance number in the movie and is every excited about it. 

Utthara is also a singer and had done playback singing for a private album ‘Pathirapontheril’ and had released the album recently. Before making her debut in films, she also had done modeling.  She held modeling assignments for brands like Bhima Jewellers and Sri Kumarans etc.  The actress was born in Kerala on October 14, 1992.
