Baiju Kottarakkara

Baiju Kottarakkara is a renowned Indian film director who predominantly directs Malayalam movies. He was also the president of Malayalam Cine Technicians Association (MACTA) in 2016. In the year 2017, he was the general secretary of MAACTA.

He is one of the foremost figures who raised his voice against the injustice to film technicians. He was a prominent filmmaker who gained fame from the 90’s. He directed some of the most popular movies during that time and recognized as one of the most prolific directors in South Indian cinema industry, In the year 1994, he directed the movie 'Kambolam' which was produced by Sathar.

This film also featured some melodious songs by Mano, K.S. Chithra, K.J.Yesudas and other famous playback singers. In the year 1998, he directed his fourth movie 'Kalapam' starring Manoj K Jayan and Praveena in the lead roles.

His last project was 'Koodariyaathe' (2001) which had music by Wilson. Baiju married Sonia, who was his co-worker in the movie Kambolam and while working in this film, they developed a friendship. Their relationship reached a new level, and later they got married.

Sonia was a child actor who made her debut with Mizhineerpoovukal. But later, they got divorced, even their divorce did not separate their roles in bringing up their children, a young daughter, and a son. Baiju was seen making movies for a mere seven years. His movie career didn’t last long. But his action flicks were declared hit and called pure entertainers.
