Ambili is a director, actor and photographer in the Malayalam film industry, known as Mollywood. He grew up in the village of Chentrappinni and resides in Thrissur, Kerala, India. He is married. He completed his degree from the college of fine arts, as he was a talented painter. During his college days, Ambili won several competitions in memory painting and National Youth Festivals. In 1980, he started his career in the film industry as a film director, art director and even makeup artist.
