Jose Thomas is a famous director in the Malayalam film industry.  In the year 1990, he had stepped in the Indian film industry. He was cast in the film, Unnikuttanu Joli Kitti. In 1993. he directed his first movie, namely Ente Sreekkuttikku. In this movie, Mukesh, Biyon, and Thilakan played the main roles, and Johnson gave his music. S

ubsequently, he directed movies each year. In 1994, he directed Njaan Kodeeshwaran. He had also given his story for this film. Ouseppachan gave his music in the film. The film had a varied cast which included stars like Sudheesh, Jagadish, Jose Pallissery, Innocent, M.S.Thrippunnithra, Baiju, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Rajan P Dev, Akshara, Kuthiravattom Pappu, Zeenath, Nine Kurup, Aranmula Ponnamma, and Vinodhini. His other movies include Saadaram(1995), Kanjirapally Kaariyachan(1996), and Adivaaram(1997). In 1998, he came up with two movies. In Meenakshi Kalyanam, film stars like Mohini, Sukumari, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Mukesh played the main roles. Prince Rafel and Davi Rafel had produced this film, and Nadirsha had given the music.

Another film, Mattupetty Machan, starring Jagathy Sreekumar, Baiju, Maathu, Mukesh, Oduvil un-nikrishnan, and Kalabhavan Navas, was an all time hit. The Bollywood film, Housefull 2 is a remake of this movie. In Udayapuram Sulthan, produced in 1999, Jose gave his direction as well as his story. It was an action-comedy movie which had popular actors like Captain Raju, Dileep, and Preetha Vijaykumar. The remake of this film was made in both Telugu and Bengali. He directed Tokyo Nagarathile Viseshangal, which had gained a lot of popularity and appreciation. Sundara Purushan, a remake of Shubalagnam, a Telugu film, was released in 2001. The film starred Devayani, Mukesh, and Suresh Gopi. Snehithan, released in 2002, was written and directed by Jose. He had also given the dialogues for this picture. Mohan Sithara was the music composer.

Youth Festival, released in 2004, was another famous hit of Jose. Actors in the film include Charmila, Cl Paul, Aby Kunjumon, Salim Kumar, Sidharth Bharathan, Bhavana, Ponnamma Babu, and Cochin Haneefa. M Jayachandran had given the music for this film. He came up with another movie in 2005, namely Chirattakkalippaattangal. In 2012, Jose came up with Mayamohini. It was a comedy movie and had earned the maximum profits i.e, it had the highest gross in that year. Biju Menon, Mythili, Lakshmi Rai, Baburaj, and Dileep were a part of this film. Jai Lalitha was a Kannada remake of this movie.

In the following years, Jose gave hits one after another. His other movies include Sringaravelan, Swarna Kaduva, and Mohanlal Untitled. In 2017, he is coming up with another film, Male Nurse.

Suma Josson

Suma Josson is a filmmaker and Indian-American journalist. She is well-known for her documentary films like You are still alive, Niyamgir, etc. which has won the first prize in short film in the category of Environment at International Film Festival of India held in the year 2010. She was born in Kerala which is a state in India. She has completed her degree of graduation from the University of Minnesota situated in the United States in English Literature. At Press Trust of India, she began her career. In the year 1992, she switched over to Visual Media. She has also written three books named A Harvest of Light which is a collection of plays, Circumferences which is a novel, and Poems and Plays. Her debut film name was “Janmadhinam” which was much appreciated by audiences and has also won many Awards. It was also screened and played at various International Film Festivals. Her second film name was “Saree.” Her debut film named “Janmadhinam” released in the year 1998 was a Malayalam movie. It was a mother and daughter who spent their night at the hospital because of “Sarasu”- the daughter was going to give birth to the child. The daughter who is also a TV reporter in Bombay was having the habit of writing feelings into a diary. In this film, Sarasu loved Ajay who is a cameraman but forced to marry Raghu by her father. This film was directed by Suma Josson starring Surekha Sikhri and Nandita Das. Hari Nair was the Cinematographer of the film, and the music was given by Narayana Mani. Her second movie named “Saree” was released in the year 1999 and was a Malayalam movie. It was about two young children named Radha and Gita who were confused between two worlds of home and school. This film was much appreciated by the audiences, and also got selected at Berlin Festival held in the year 1999. At the Mumbai International Film Festival, it was the inaugural film. This film was directed by Suma Josson starring Sreelatha, Krishna, Remya, Priyanka, etc. M.J. Radhakrishnan and K.G. Jayan were the cinematographers of the film, and editing of the film was done by Bina. Music was given by Chandran Veyattumal. She has made many documentaries. One of the most popular documentaries Gujarat: A Laboratory of Hindu Rastra which was released in the year 2003, was a 50 min long documentary. It unleashes the violence in Gujarat during February in the year 2002. It explains how the fascist ideologies of Communal forces have affected the ordinary Gujarati Hindu.
