Hariniis a Kannada film actress. She worked in the 1950s and 1960s before retiring at the pinnacle of her career. Srinivasa Upadhya and Bharathi had Harini as their fourth child in Udupi in 1937. Vadiraj, her brother, was also an actor and producer. Harini worked as a child actress in films such as Sri Murugan and Kannika, for which she was paid one rupee for her excellent dialogue delivery. Punyavathi, a Tamil film, made her a full-fledged heroine. Harini made her acting debut as Mohini in Jaganmohini when she was 15 years old. She was the first Kannada cinema heroine to appear in a swimsuit. Harini became an overnight fame after the film became a silver jubilee blockbuster.
Harini received 200 letters for her outstanding performance while filming her second film, the bilingual Ratnadeep, which was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi. Harini went on to perform a range of parts in films such as Dallali, Vichitra Prapancha, Nandi, Nanda Deepa, Kanya Dana, Gandharva Kanya, and Pathivratha. Harini married in 1972 and relocated to Saudi Arabia, where she resided for 12 years. Harini has dabbled with film producing in addition to acting. Under the brands of Sri Bharathi Chitra and Vijaya Bharathi, she has produced some noteworthy films alongside her brothers Vadiraj-Jawahar. Naandi, Nanda Deepa, Nava Jeevana, Namma Makkalu, and Seetha are some of Harini's films. Harini received a salary of Rs 1 for her first film. She has won the Kannada Rajyotsava award as well as the Dr. B Saroja Devi award.
