Kalyan Kumar is a prominent Kannada film actor who has acted in over 200 films. He ruled Kannada cinema for five decades. Kalyan Kumar went on to give memorable and sensitive portrayals in career spanning between 1950’s to 1970’s and his move to character parts was also done with unrivaled grace. , Udaya Kumar, and Kalyan Kumar( Kumar's Trio). The Kumars Trio was as inseparable a part of the silver screen as air to breathing. But it is virtually impossible to imagine Kannada films without all the Kumar's those days. ‘Bhoodana’ was the only film that featured the ‘Three Kumar's’– Raj Kumar, Udaya Kumar and Kalyan Kumar, which was produced by PN Gopalakrishna and GV Iyer in 1962.
He also has acted in three South Indian languages (Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada) films. He even experimented his talent in Tamil cinema and Actor Udayakumar was a multi-talented personality in Kannada cinema. He has been a producer, director, writer and singer in his career in cinema. He was the first actor to act in a color Kannada film named ‘Amarashilpi Jakanachari’, in which he had played the role of Jakanachari, a legendary sculptor.
