Dayal Padmanabhan

Dayal Padmanabhan is a Kannada movie director, who was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu. He was born on 14th June 1970 in Villupuram in Tamil Nadu. His parents are Padmanabhan and Radha. Padmanabhan was an employee of Tamilnadu Electricity Board. After his sudden death, Radha got the job and educated her son. Dayal is a scientist by profession. He came to Bangalore in 1988 and joined Indian Institute of Science as a scientist. Due to the passion for cinema, Dayal resigned his scientist job and got deep into the cinema industry. Dayal Padmanabhan is an Indian director, producer, film writer. He has mainly worked in Kannada Cinema. His movies are mainly based on the theme of thrillers, romantic comedy, and comedy-thriller. He was born in Tamil Nadu. His father Padmanabhan worked as an electrician in Tamil Nadu electricity board, and his mother Radha Padmanabhan worked as a housewife until her husband’s death. Later she took the position of her husband at work. Dayal was always interested in acting and participated in many extra-curricular activities during his school time. He wanted to become an actor but then later turned out to be a director, producer, and film writer in Kannada movies. He is a graduate with a Diploma degree in Civil Engineering from the Muthiah Polytechnic, Chidambaram. He did his B.E from the B.M.S. College of Engineering, in Bangalore. He worked at the Indian Institute of Science for 15 years. 

He made his enter in the Kannada film industry in the year 2000. His first movie as a writer was Om Ganesh, which starred Sai Kumar. The movie was directed by Manju. He has been a film writer for many movies such as Gattimela, Hudugigage, H2O. He has mainly written the dialogues and screenplay for his movies. His movie as a director was OK Saar OK  in the year 2003. He has directed movies like Circus, Sri Harikathe, Baa Baaro Rasika, 'Haggadha Kone,’ ‘Masala’ and many more. He stared in the movie Gaalipata in which he played the character of Dracula, which was liked by the audience. His movie Gharshane was a full action packed movie and has worked as a director and producer. The movie was released under the banner of Shankar Productions. 

He did the executive producer for his movie Circus and even worked as a Co-producer for Shriharikathe. His movies are mainly produced by his own production house named D Pictures. The movie Yogaraj But, released in 2011 was very much appreciated by the critics. The movie starred Neethu and Naveena Krishna in the lead roles. He has also been a part of the Tamil movie Brahman as an executive producer. 

In 2011, he won the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce election and became a member of Producer Sector. He is the member of the Karnataka Film Director’s Association. He was nominated for the best screenplay writer for the movie Yogaraj by the Times of India Film Awards in 2011.
