The filmmaker took years of effort to get his film ‘Mithya’ released. However, despite the backing of someone like Rakshith Shetty, the film is far from getting a reasonable response from the audience. This is what ‘Mithya’ had to endure, with little to negligible audience support despite the brilliance of the filmmaker.

The director has taken potshots at both the audience and the state administration, wondering where is the Kannada pride now. In case you are not unaware, multiple campaigns have been launched by both the ruling government and the masses in Karnataka to prioritize Kannada over anything else.

However, the same hasn’t been visible in the collections of Kannada movies since the past one and a half years. Out of all the movies released since late 2023, only a handful managed to even recover their costs, forget the possibility of becoming a blockbuster. Even stars like Upendra couldn’t ensure the box office success of their movies. While Sandalwood isn’t suffering as badly as Tamil cinema is, their status isn’t very promising either.
