Terada Kenji was born in Tokyo, Japan, on July 11th, 1952. He is a scriptwriter, anime director, novelist cum scenario writer, graduated from Waseda University in 1973 with a degree in European history. Terada illustrated for newspapers and magazines during his career, worked on movie sets, and worked as an animator. In 1978, he became an assistant to artist Osamu Tezuka. In 1980, Terada became a freelance writer and director of multiple ventures, including screenplays for Baoh, Dirty Pair, and Kimagure Orange Road. He also worked for Square, writing scripts for the first three Final Fantasy video games.
He was the screenwriter for films and animation series and director of the video game Batman: Dark Tomorrow and the animated series Firestorm. Since then, he has been working on "Robotics: Chronicles of Shadows" and other shows and video games.

Terada also wrote for Tokusatsu. Tokusatsu ("special shooting") is a term for live-action movies or TV series that use special effects extensively in Japanese. Tokusatsu entertainment is usually about science fiction, fantasy, or horror, but other movies and TV shows can sometimes be counted as Tokusatsu.
