Courtney B.Vance is one of the black Hollywood’s most talented actors. Born in Detroit in 1960 he had a strict upbringing with Television was forbidden and focus on studies was given importance. While attending the Detroit Country School on a scholarship, he excelled in sports as well academically. He was not only the captain of the school's basketball but also the captain of track teams, and baseball.
Further, he attended Harvard University, wherein he majored in History. But his mind was set on acting, so he shocked his parents by enrolling in drama school at Yale University. Vance has won three Tony Awards nominations for his performances in LUCKY GUY, FENCES and SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION. His other notable works include THE LAST SUPPER, DANGEROUS MINDS, SPACE COWBOYS, to name a few. He is married to Angela Basset, a fellow actress who he met at the acting school.
