Tejas Menon

Tejas is a singer-songwriter from Bombay, India. Having grown up in Dubai, his signature brand of English Pop music reflects his exposure to different cultures. His music experiments with several genres including Rock, Funk, R&B, Soul, and Electronica; and has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of independent English songwriting from the sub-continent. Before he moved to Mumbai in 2013 to pursue music, Menon worked as a radio jockey in Pune. Here, he took up a job as a copywriter with an ad agency

He has released two critically acclaimed albums, ‘Small Victories’ (2014) and 'Make It Happen' (2017), and his most ambitious work yet, ‘Outlast’ (2021). ‘Make It Happen’ went to #1 on the Indian Pop Charts on iTunes on its release and Outlast has gained a name across independent music and is being recognized as one of the best independent albums of the year. In 2017, he crowdfunded his second album on Wishberry in just six hours.

Tejas has traveled to play sold-out shows at several major venues and music festivals country-wide, including Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, and VH1 Supersonic. He has opened for Damien Rice, and Lucy Rose on their Indian tours and also features on sets with the critically acclaimed psychedelic rock band Blackstratblues. Tejas has also won the Best Singer-Songwriter of The Year (Jury’s Choice) Award from The Indian Music Diaries Awards 2021.

He also founded and runs Geek Fruit: a community in India for pop-culture enthusiasts. The titular podcast started in 2015 now has over 300 episodes and is regarded as one of the first-ever pop-culture podcasts to come from India. Along with co-founders Jishnu Guha and Dinkar Dwivedi, the podcast consisted of reviews, interviews, and talks on nerd culture. It has been on hiatus since 2020. They also host events like 'Super Scary Awesome', their annual Halloween Party, and create video content for brands like Book My Show and The Souled Store. He has a website for his music called ‘musicbytejas’. He released a single called ‘Some Kind of Nothing’ in 2023.
