Taboo aka Jamie Luis Gomez who is better known by his former stage name 'Taboo' is a popular American rapper. He was born on July 14th in the year 1975. He was born in Los Angeles, California. Both of his parents were from Mexico. He went to Rosemead High School and later studied at Richard Garvey Intermediate School. In 2008, on July 12th he got married to his wife Jaymie Dizon in California. He has three children- two with his wife, Jimmy Jalen Gomez born on July 19, 2009, and another child- Journey born on April 19, 2011. He also has another son, Joshua, from another relationship who was born on October 13, 1993. He made his musical debut in the year 1975 by joining the critically acclaimed music band, Black Eyed Peas. He replaced Dante Santiago in the band.
The group gained international fame and won six Grammy Awards and sold an estimated 60 million records sold worldwide in the year 2003. In the following year 2005, their album Monkey Business became a worldwide success and was certified 4X platinum in the US. In the year 2008 rumours were doing rounds that he was planning to release a solo album but he later denied these rumours by saying that it would be some time before he would release a solo album. He has co-written and performed music for various movies like Coach Carter (2005), Legally Blonde (2001), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), and Barbershop 2 (2004). In the year 2014, he released his solo track "Zumbao," which was full of positive vibes. He made his acting debut with the film Dirty starring Wyclef Jean in which he essayed the role of RamÃrez. He then starred in the 2007 independent film Cosmic Radio, which also starred many other well-known actors. He also played the role of Vega, a masked baddie with a tattooed arm in the Street Fighter:
The Legend of Chun-Li (2009). In 2011, he released his autobiography "Falling-Up."He has also appeared as a judge on the MTV reality shows Top Pop Group. His last movie venture was in the year 2014 movie James Boy. In June 2014, the recording artist was diagnosed with Stage 2 testicular cancer. During an interview with Peoples' magazine, he revealed that his family and group members were shocked to hear about this news. His band member will.i.am instantly reached out to a great doctor who helped the artist in figuring out his treatment plan. Taboo had to undergo 12 weeks of intense and aggressive chemotherapy. In November 2016, Taboo released a track "The Fight" which was based on his successful battle against testicular cancer. The track was produced in association with the American Cancer Society. He is also the global ambassador for The ACS and the funds raised by this song were donated to the organisation. At, the present he is cancer free.
