Zsa Zsa Gabor is one of the biggest names in the rich history of the European connections to Hollywood. Born as Sari Gabor in Budapest, Hungary on 6 th February 1917, back when Hungary was still a part of the Austrian empire. She was born to Jewish parents and has 3 other sisters. Her family being Jewish, they had to escape Hungary as it was controlled by the Nazis back in those days.
Gabor was studying in a boarding school in Vienna in 1934 when she was discovered by Richard Tauber, who was a legendary theatre operator back in the 1930s. Zsa Zsa was asked to sing in an audition and that time she wasn’t told for what role, she excelled in the audition and role ended up being for The Singing Dream at the prestigious Wein Theatres. That marked the start of her acting career, by that time she had also finished writing her own autobiography which did very well in the USA. Her debut on screen came in 1957 in Moulin Rouge, a British film that follows the story of a French painter. Since then she went on to star in blockbuster films like Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Queen of Outer Space, Touch of Evil and many more. She passed away on 18th December 2016.
