Octavia Lenora Spencer born in Montgomery, Alabama, the US on May 25, 1972, is an author and American actress. Spencer has six siblings which include her sisters named Areka and Rosa. Her mother’s name is Dellsena Spenser who died in the year 1988 and worked as a maid when she was alive. Jefferson Davis High School was the school from where Spencer has completed her graduation in the year 1988. She has also studied at Auburn University and has a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. Spencer has worked on the set of “The Long Walk Home,” at the age of 19. The film has an actor named Whoopi Goldberg Her debut film name was- “A Time to Kill” in which she played the role of a nurse based on John Grisham’s book. In 2011, she acted in the period film named “ The Help” as Minny Jackson for which she became popular.

It dealt with the subject of adolescent racial and exploring the sexual identity. It was a “R” rated movie as it had many sexual contents, language, and brief nudity. It got 3 out of 5 stars by most of the critics. Commercially it was successful to recover the money spent on the movie.
