Juliane Köhler

Juliane Kohler is of German origin and a theater, television as well as film actress. She was born to a poor family as her father was just a puppet player. At a small age, after graduating from Waldorf School, she went to New York Click to look into! >> Read More... and studied under Uta Thyra Hagen, who was a German American Drama teacher and originated the role of Martha in 1962. Not only this, she was so sincere about acting that she also went to the HB acting studio.

She also had interest in dancing so she learned the ballet form of dance in Munich (capital and largest city of Bavaria in Germany). This is not known by many people. Her name had a special meaning, ‘Kohler’ meant “The Charcoal Burner”. In 1988, she made her first stage appearance at a theater in Hanover's Lower Saxon State in Germany, and then she often used to appear in theaters. One of the theaters in which she played an important role was, The Bavarian State Theater of Germany, where she remained from the year 1993 to the year 1997.

But as she got a greater opportunity of acting in a film, she had to leave the theater as the shooting of the film interfered with the timings of the theater. The film was Aimée & Jaguar, produced by Das Käthchen von Heilbronn. After completing this film successfully, she returned to Munich and became a part of the Munich Kammerspiele (German language theater) in 1999. It was from here that she gained the real name, which she deserved.

She was popularly known as the actress at the Kammerspiele. In 2001, she came with a super hit film, Nowhere in Africa, as Jettel Redlich, then came in 2004 as Eva Braun in the film, ‘Downfall’, in 2008 as Clara (wife of Fritz Shimon Haber) in film ‘Haber’, in 2009 as Christina in Eden Is West, and then came in the 2012 film, Two Lives. All these films were award winning and she received the Bavarian Film Award, Award at Berlin Film Festival, etc. At present, she has two pretty daughters.
