The movie was remade in Telugu by the name of Potugadu. The film was called ostensibly a copy of Avnandre Avne which was a Kannada movie released in 2006. Nonetheless, the writer of the Karnataka Film Directors Association lay down the assertion of being a copy away from the truth.
