Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt, also known as Emily Olivia Leah Blunt is a British actress, born on 23rd February 1983, in West London. She was born to Joanna Mackie, a former actress and teacher and Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, a banister. She received her primary education at Ibstock Place School, Roehampton. Blunt was initially struggling with stammering (a speech disorder). She underwent several therapies that ended in vain. Finally, Blunt’s teacher asked her to play the role of a character but with a different voice. It worked well, and her stammering disappeared. She had two years of drama studies at Hurtwood’s theater course.

In 2000, she was nominated to perform at the Edinburgh Festival. In November 2001, she made her professional debut in the play ‘The Royal Family’. After a stunning performance in the play, she was named Best Newcomer by The Evening Standard. Then, she went on to take part in the plays Foyle’s War (2002), Henry VIII (2003), Empire (2005). In 2003, she made her TV drama debut in Boudica. In 2004, she was praised for her role in My Summer of Love and shared an Evening Standard British Film Award for most promising Newcomer with co-star Natalie Press. In 2005, she was seen in television drama Gideon’s Daughter for which she won the Golden Globe Award.

In 2006, she appeared in The Devil Wears Prada that garnered her nominations for BAFTA and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. She had four films in her kitty in the year 2007 and two in the year 2008. In 2009, she played the role of Queen Victoria in The Young Victoria. Blunt gave birth to their daughter, Hazel on 16th February 2014. It is reported that the couple is expecting a second child this year. Blunt became a citizen of the United States in 2015.
