Michael Nyqvist

Mikael Nyqvist is a Swedish actor, born on 8 November 1960. He is currently 56 years of age with a height of 1.78 m. He acquired his acting skills at the School of Drama in Malmo. In 1997, the first series of Beck films was made, he played the role of police officer Banck and became very popular from that. He is an internationally renowned actor, known for his roles in Millennium series (as Mikael Blomkvist), Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol(as Kurt Hendricks) in which he was a lead villain.He was born to a Swedish mother in Stockholm. His father was Italian who was from Florence. Mikael was an adopted child from an orphanage. At the age of 17, he took his first acting classes in Omaha, Nebraska. He decided to try theatre at the age of 24 on the suggestion of his ex-girlfriend, in Malmo Theatre Academy.

After graduation, he did theater mainly and did small roles in some of the film productions. In the year 2000, the film Together by Lukas Moodysson was his first big breakthrough. The movie was very successful and bagged many awards. Mikael achieved his first award for best actor for his role in the film of a misguided husband with some anger issues. He played the leading role in The Guy in the Grave Next Door by Kjell Sundvall which was a Swedish romantic comedy. The film describes the differences between white-collar administrators and blue-collar laborers. He acted in the movie named suddenly by Johan Brisinger in 2006. He also appeared on many shows like a millennium, Zero hours, etc. He has been internationally known for his roles in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as Mikael Blomkvist.
