Lee Byung-hun was born in South Korea on 13th August 1970 in Seoul, South Korea. He is professionally an actor and also is a singer and is a known person all around the world. His sister won the Miss Korea competition in 1996. He received his primary education from South Korea and later joined Han Yang University where he learned French literature. Lee later did a major in Theaters from Chung-Ang University.

He debuted on a TV show, 'Asphalt My Hometown' and he continued to work for different shows playing many different characters. He made his debut in the film industry with 'Who drives me crazy' which is about Kim, a sales person who wants to become a writer and quit his job. His works don’t work out at a competition, and he realizes that he will never become a writer and fears that his girlfriend will leave him as soon as she gets a job.

His lover finally gets the job but never leaves Kim. Lee debut could not do enough for him; he received other films but did not achieve any limelight. He became a star with his movie, 'Joint Security Area' released in 2000. The flick is about a gunfire that held on DMZ, a location which separates the North and South Korea. It gathered positive response from the critics and the audience loved it. It was this film that changed Lee’s image.

His command over the character and his acting mesmerized the audience. It grossed $3 million worldwide. His portrayal of a samurai warrior surprised the audience, his skills in martial arts and kung fu left them speechless. It focuses on the team, G.I.Joe, who fights the criminals and fulfills the task assigned to them. Its first installment released in 2009 and the second hit the theaters on 2013. Both the films gathered excellent collections worldwide.
